Sure, I really can not thank you enough, really I can not, it sounds terrific.

conflict homework: Yes, children did go to school though some schools moved from towns to the country. As well as ordinary lessons children learned air raid drills, leaving classrooms when the sirens sounded to go to air raid shelters.

To raise money for the ‘war effort’, schools started ‘Spitfire Funds’ and National Savings Groups. More than 6,000 school savings groups started in 1940. Children saved money each week. Many schools gave children free milk, and there were school dinners too, for a small charge.

Some things stayed the same – exams
did children get toys: children would have been lucky to get a toy, because factorys where turned into gun and war factorys so no toys for children arww..

Where did you get this information from? There are some excellent facts here!

      Hi Charley,
Just thought I would try and help you out here.
In a few weeks time I’m going to be looking to set up a sports crew. All Saints might be helping me with this too.
Basically, it is going to be similar to a school council but with the main focus of developing sport in our school.
This might be something you could consider applying for.
      Miss Mooney.

    • 6ra says:

This sounds like the ideal job! Thanks Miss Mooney. I am glad you’ve listened to me Charlie and that you’ve had a good think about it.
      Mr. Annia

  20. Jin says:

On Saturday 13th 2014 I went to Grantham to do a verbal reasoning test but I haven’t got the results yet, despite some words I didn’t know I think I did pretty well, nevertheless I like doing verbal reasoning.

  21. Jin says:

I’ve had a great day with Mrs Clark today. We did a maths assessment today, it was quite easy! We also did some french.

    • Jin says:

I’m going to do my reading challenge tomorrow.

    • 6AM says:

Tell me something in French that you learned today.

    • Jin says:

I learnt how to say knife: un cooto (I don’t know how to spell it but I put the pronunciation of the word) and table: un table.
I think Mrs Clark has a fantastic french accent!

    • Jin says:

Oh, and door: une porte, chair: un chairse, window: une frenete and plate: un asette I don’t know the spellings so I have tried to do the pronunciation. I can’t believe I can remember so many!

    • 6ra says:

I shall look forward to seeing how you scored Jin! Your recollection of French verbs is top notch too. Mrs. Clarke will be proud. Spellings in French can be tricky. Great effort. Couteau is knife, and chaise is chair.
      Bonsoir!
      Mr.Annia

Miss Mooney I would like to ask a question about verbal reasoning.
IN TWO YEARS TIME I WILL BE 4 TIMES OLDER THAN MY BROTHER IS NOW.
    MY BROTHER IS NOW 5.

    How old am I now?………
How old will I be when I am twice as old as my brother.

    • 6AM says:

      Hi Ayron,
      I love questions like this.
Come and see me first thing tomorrow morning. This sort of question really needs explaining verbally and setting out on a piece of paper.

    • ayron says:

Thank You miss Mooney I will see you tomorrow.

  • Nathan says:

I’m having a great weekend so far! Miss. Mooney I have got an idea for our class assembly, we could chose a group from Friday when we were doing our machines work and they can go through and explain their machine.

    • 6AM says:

      Hi Nathan,
Thank you for your suggestion – it’s been added to the list! I think we need to show the Wonka orchestra too – we made some funny noises.
I’m going to start a new post – Y6AM class assembly ideas.
      See you on Monday.

  • Jin says:

Great day today. It was great doing the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory activity, it was fantastic. I got 19/20 but I didn’t understand the question: 2.4-3.7=-1.3.

Please can you help me to understand this question Mr Annia.
    Thanks!!

    • 6ra says:

Yes Jin, we shall go over this so don’t worry. 19/20 is still an exceptional score.
      Mr. Annia

  • Harriet says:

I just wanted to say that my first full week in year 6 was brilliant!! I’ve really enjoyed been with Miss Mooney because she’s really funny!! Today I especially enjoyed it when we were doing the Charlie and the chocolate factory machine noises and designing our machines in our groups, that we did the drama in!!!!! • ayron says:

Yes the home school diaries are amazing, and the spelling sheets are ment to be handed in on Fridays.(I think).Sorry if I get the day wrong.

  • Jin says:

To Mr Annia or Miss Mooney,
Please can you help me with this question.

    Write down Peter’s actual marks.

SUBJECT ACTUAL MARK POSSIBLE MARK PERCENTAGE

    Science ??????????? 15 60%

    French ??????????? 35 80%

    English ??????????? 80 55%

    Art ??????????? 70 70%

    Music ??????????? 20 65%

Please can you teach me how to find the ???????????? so I know how to do it in the future.

    Thanks!!

    • Jin says:

I’m sorry it didn’t come out clearly, question marks are actual mark, the numbers 15, 35, 80, 70 and 20 are the possible mark.
      I’m sorry.

    • 6ra says:

      Hi Jin,
Thanks for posting this question. Can you bring it into school this week and I shall take a closer look at it with you?
      Thanks,
      Mr. Annia

    • Jin says:

      Okay Mr Annia.

  • Jin says:

I have had a great day at school, D.A.R.E. was great! Officer Hand is a fantastic D.A.R.E. Officer, he is a hilarious man, he makes the learning enjoyable, so do you Mr. Annia!

  • Harriet says:

I really enjoyed my day today and officer Hand was so funny! D.a.r.e was amazing and the clapping songs were great!!!!

  • Taylor says:

Hi Miss Mooney how do we get on twitter? And what is our name?

    • 6AM says:

      Hi.
An adult will need to register for a Twitter account.
      Our username is @Y6AMRA
      Thanks,
      Miss Mooney.

  • Taylor says:

Hi Miss Mooney DARE was really good and officer Hands was really nice and funny.

  • Jin says:

To Mr Annia or Miss Mooney
I am not very sure what the rule is for adding es to a word to make it plural.
Please can you help me with this question.

By the way, I understand what a relative clause is.

    • 6AM says:

      Hi Jin,
The easiest way to explain this is – words ending in hissing sounds like s, ss, sh, ch, tch, x, z become plural by adding ‘es’.
      Hope that makes sense.
      Miss Mooney.

    • Jin says:

      Great help, thanks!

  • Victoria says:

Can’t wait to start Dare tomorrow.

  • Jin says:

    Mr Annia,
Miss Mooney said in class that there would be a reading challenge section on the blog but I don’t know where it is.

  • Jin says:

(QUESTION ABOUT A ASSESSMENT PAPER FOR MR ANNIA)
    Hello Mr Annia,
I want to ask you a question on English.
What is a ‘relative clause’ from the question: Write five sentences, each with a relative clause beginning with the following words. The first word is ‘who’.
Please can you help me with this question?

    • 6AM says:

      Hi Jin,
I am just typing a reply to your question.
      Miss Mooney

    • 6AM says:

      Hi Jin,
I can help you with this. I am sure Mr. Annia will show you more examples tomorrow.
A relative clause uses the words: who, which, where and whose.
A relative clause adds more information to a sentence for example:
The boy walked to school. This is a simple sentence.
The boy, who was upset, walked to school.
This is a more interesting sentence and uses a relative clause.
      Hope this helps for now.
      Miss Mooney.

    • Jin says:

Thanks Miss Mooney, that’s a great help!

    • 6ra says:

Yes, thanks a lot Miss Mooney. And thank you Jin for your question. You have asked and contributed really well so far.
